Your comments are quite spot-on, and I can't help but think "Rotating Orthodox Insanity" would have been a better subtitle than "The Dark Kumite."

Also, I fixed the Stothard/Marais screwup; I knew if anybody could fact-check this thing for me, it'd be you!Sean Gillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00537515557596273876noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5497928641398322495.post-77470917734033630062015-07-30T05:53:22.689-04:002015-07-30T05:53:22.689-04:00At last my pain has been shared. Completely accurate in every respect, in fact I'd forgotten how much of an abstract horror this motion picture truly was until I saw all the screenshots once more.

Got to love the complete carefree abandon in utilising Sofia Cathedral (one of Bulgaria's most renouned landmarks) as an American private residence (which if you rewatch - if you could ever imagine doing so - according to the police is, and I quote, in "the desert"), one of the many times that the realms of absurdity are forced to implode within themselves like the geometric impossibilities that open new dimensions in Lovecraft's Dreams in the Witch House.

Thoroughly appreciated the inclusions of creepy extra and never understating Restraino's thoroughly bourgeois delusions of arthouse grandeur.

I hate this film. And yet it calls to me.

One small correction though - his partner Blair is played by Lisa Stothard, not Christine Marais. Daniel Bernhardt and Lisa Stothard actually fell in love making this temporal wormhole of hallucinogenic ineptitude and have been happily married together ever since. And in knowing that, I stare into the corner of this room and I can't help but feel the angles are so inconceivably wrong that a gateway is about to open...

... through which all I can see are red-lit stairs and pale Eastern European girls in bowler hats beckoning me to step beyond this mundane realm of existence and into a world of rotating Orthodox insanity.AnonyMikenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5497928641398322495.post-747911529436571702015-07-29T20:29:46.321-04:002015-07-29T20:29:46.321-04:00Chris,

It's kinda fun because of that. In fact, it's been years since I last saw it. It's high time I give it a rewatch! Thanks for bringing it up, and reminding me!Chris Hewsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11566568274862884325noreply@blogger.com
