Newland also directed some episodes of THRILLER, including the highly regarded "Pigeons from Hell." Hadn't heard about a remake but am hardly surprised, and although DYING ROOM ONLY was never formally remade, it was clearly the inspiration for the Kurt Russell film BREAKDOWN. Matheson was behind some of the best of the '70s horror TV-movies, such as THE NIGHT STALKER, TRILOGY OF TERROR and DUEL.
