  1. Think of how small of a percentage these movies represent of all the movies you've seen in your life. Now think of the sum of all the hours you spent watching just these movies on this list. Think of the number of hours you spent writing reviews for each one of them. What are you left with?

  2. Anon.,

Apparently you spend a lot of time reading a blog that you ostensibly dislike?

  3. I didn't mean it negatively, I love the blog. My favorite review is Le Monde Du Silence, it's hilarious. What I meant was that it's amazing how much time our generation has spent watching films. You would think that with our exposure, and as we take over more positions in hollywood, that we would create a new wave of amazing films, a neo-golden era? Just rambling here

  4. Ah, forgive me if I misunderstood. It is amazing how much time is spent digesting all this media, but I don't think of it as time wasted; it's at worst a hobby & a diversion, and at best it impels us to some kind of greater truth. As is documented in these pages, I spend a great deal of time (moreso than on this blog, certainly) chasing my own creative pursuits and I've found (as a filmmaker and playwright with a career in television) that the visionary types who could work on that neo-golden era get generally choked out by money men and nepotism and Shakespearean power plays. Perhaps Hollywood will undergo a kind of collapse beneath the weight of these insanely budgeted, bland blockbusters and pave the way for a new wave? Or maybe not.
